President Biden just spoke with Governor Abbott to offer any and all assistance he needs in the wake of the horrific shooting in Uvalde, TX.

Sorry, but this tragedy isn’t “unimaginable.” We saw ten people killed at a grocery store last week! We saw an elementary school shot up with 20 kids dead less than ten years ago. It’s very much imaginable now.

It takes a monster to kill children. But to watch monsters kill children again and again and do nothing isn’t just insanity—it’s inhumanity.

A6: From the beginning, invite them in. Start easy, parent nights just for fun. No academic strings. Getting to know you nights with food, conversation, Q&A with the admin and teachers. Positive calls, calls to check in. It's about authentic investment. #WeLeadEd

A6: Students self assess when you create endless opportunities for growth. I've seen data portfolios which are the numbers, but also student work and thinking (thinking maps) & they create tangible next step goals. They reason out their whys on their rubrics. #AppleEDUchat

A5: Not to use a buzzword, LOL, but the feedback must be authentic, relevant, and thoughtful. Even if it's feedback to challenge something or push them. If it's built on trust, they'll buy in. We use post it notes IRL & comments on the side on our docs, slides, etc. #AppleEDUchat

A4: When you don't get as much time with those students as you would like, it's the small moments. The tiniest hellos, hugs, and genuinely stopping to ask how they are that mean the world to them. Its that ear when they wanna talk happiness or hardship. #WeLeadEd

A3: Particularly w/students who have a natural distrust of school from background, previous exp., etc. building trust (or breaking it) can completely shut a student down or help that caterpillar become a butterfly. #WeLeadEd

A3: Maybe cheesy but we use a lot of discussion protocols so that everyone has ample time to talk with uninterrupted listening. We also LOVE @ThinkingMaps to capture the whole picture of a student's thinking. #AppleEDUchat

A2: I try to look at every piece of the puzzle. Are they engaged, what do the numbers say, are their basic needs being met, what relationships do they have in the classroom? It's all part of the learning puzzle. #AppleEDUchat

A spirit of fear. Beautifully put and so ON POINT. Only when we are fearless can fearless work occur. #WeLeadEd
