1/6 🧵 Since the start of the monsoon season, over 653 people have tragically lost their lives due to floods and related disasters across Pakistan.

For too long, the people of #Yemen have suffered because of factors beyond their control. Hunger continues to rise. Cholera continues to spread. At the #SecurityCouncil, I reiterated my deep concern for the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian crisis and urgent need for support.

Over 21 million Ethiopians are in need of humanitarian assistance caused by back-to-back climate shocks and devastating conflict. Today, I urged leaders to unite and cease the small window of opportunity to prevent further deterioration. Together, we can turn this tide.

Outraged by the killing of @WCKitchen aid workers in Gaza. All this talk about ceasefires, and still this war steals the best of us.

I strongly condemn an incident yesterday in which an aid convoy was fired upon while traveling from northern Gaza to Rafah.  The convoy was clearly marked and its movements were coordinated with the parties.  Attacks on humanitarian workers are unlawful. The conflict must stop.

What @UNRWA and all aid workers and volunteers are doing in war-torn Gaza is nothing short of heroic. UNRWA must get the resources that it needs, because not only it is a lifeline for thousands, but it also represents one of the last shreds of humanity amidst the devastation.

We're living in the worst of times.

The noose around the civilian population in Gaza is tightening. How are 1.1 million people supposed to move across a densely populated warzone in less than 24 hours? I shudder to think what the humanitarian consequences of the evacuation order would be.
