TMX is the only major oil pipeline that crosses the continental divide. The US has never built (nor as far as I can tell, contemplated) one despite west coast imports of about 1 million barrels per day. But sure, they're going to build one to export AB crude to Asia.

Belarus sells potash at pre-sanction levels today. They’ve recovered from the 2022 sanction shock, and found new markets. Unless other countries now want to push those sales away, there will be an impact on Nutrien’s margins, but not one of significance in the long-run. #cdnpoli

It’s obviously an unfortunate move for both nations, with the United States helping fund a hostile state, and with Saskatchewan receiving lower prices for its potash. There are tax-based actions that Canada/Sask can take to support industry and the economy in the face of this.

Hardly a “checkmate”. With Putin’s potash off the market, #Saskatchewan has been able to charge Americans 50% higher than the offshore price for potash. The absolute worst this could do is make us charge market prices. We still have >40% profit margins at that rate. #skpoli
