If we continue to resort to tax incrementalism and government spending as the solutions to our economic woes, we will continue to watch the promise of a prosperous future slip away. #skpoli #cdnpoli Tax system innovation an opportunity for #Saskatchewan

#Saskatchewanโs Private Sector Employment and Productivity have been stagnant for the past decade. This is a direct consequence of a highly distortionary tax system, one that incentivizes excessive investment in a handful of sectors, at the cost of the rest. #skpoli #cdnpoli

Canada, BC and Alberta have put out a RFI to explore the economic viability and potential sites for a copper processing facility, including a smelter and refinery, in Western Canada. ๐ I love this so much. Mining bros, share with your networks!

โOil sands companies can produce for decades at the same economic threshold as they do today. Thatโs a great place to be,โ said a senior analyst with Enverus. BMO Capital Markets estimates that Albertaโs oil sands could maintain current production rates for more than 140 years.

The Government of #Saskatchewan thinks the best way to attract new manufacturing projects is to borrow $1 B and spend $20 M per year maintaining irrigation infrastructure for 50 producers. #skpoli #Ag They choose this over cutting taxes on manufacturing investment. #cdnpoli

The federal government doesnโt get resource royalties, royalties are deductible from the corporate tax base, and only half are considered part of โfiscal capacityโ under the present formula. Equalization is financed primarily by federal income taxes. #cdnpoli
๐จ CANADAโS BIGGEST EQUALIZATION SCAM ๐จ Quebec doesnโt have to declare Hydro-Quรฉbec revenue ..yet still cashes billions in equalization ๐ต Now imagine this: ๐จ๐ฆ Alberta didnโt declare oil & gas revenue๐ข๏ธ๐ฐ Equalization would collapse overnight. Same country. Two rulebooks.

Government rejects call to measure productivity across public service
ctvnews.ca
The federal government is rejecting a call from a working group to measure productivity across Canadaโs public sector, arguing that doing so would not โreadily alignโ with its priorities.

And, if you're worried about dealing with one federal and one provincial government, building a pipeline to the US West Coast means two federal governments, and two or three state or provincial governments. Good luck with that.

TMX is the only major oil pipeline that crosses the continental divide. The US has never built (nor as far as I can tell, contemplated) one despite west coast imports of about 1 million barrels per day. But sure, they're going to build one to export AB crude to Asia.

@cfarms76 Should be minimal impact. Belarus was only 5% of our imports during normal times. Belarus needs to make peace with Lithuania so they can start using their typical export lane once again. That would be a game changer.

Iโm shocked and saddened by the antisemitic attack in Australia at the beginning of Hanukkah. My thoughts are with Jewish people in Saskatchewan and around the world who are grieving the lives lost. Hate and division have no place here, or anywhere.

How much can they buy when Belarus has already found alternative markets? Are China and Russia about to sanction and tariff Belarus? Without new mine expansions, and with new capacity about to come online in Canada, there continues to be one dominant supplier of potash to the US.

A government funded linear project with no route, no private proponent, referred to MPO but hasnโt consulted Indigenous nations yet? $60-$90 billion? Progressives will be furious First segment of high-speed rail plan will link Montreal and Ottawa https://t.co/aXXEKZdztJ

Look I'm all for better cooperation with the EU and other partners but keep your mouths shut about the defence of Canadian territory or that's likely to change
The Arctic region should remain governed by the principles of international law. In a recent resolution, Parliament members condemned the growing militarisation of the Arctic and urged the EU to strengthen cooperation with its NATO allies. Learn more: https://t.co/uM7ANVXSPI

โLook at that image, have a lookโ. The harsh reality is that, under the Premier you so highly praise, #Saskatchewan has been stagnant in the long-term, with the 3rd highest METR on investment in Canada, highest in North America for oil and natural gas. #skpoli #cdnpoli
Saskatchewan's independence movement is coming along and I couldn't be more thrilled. https://t.co/GLrnXT6fTN

Belarus sells potash at pre-sanction levels today. Theyโve recovered from the 2022 sanction shock, and found new markets. Unless other countries now want to push those sales away, there will be an impact on Nutrienโs margins, but not one of significance in the long-run. #cdnpoli

Itโs obviously an unfortunate move for both nations, with the United States helping fund a hostile state, and with Saskatchewan receiving lower prices for its potash. There are tax-based actions that Canada/Sask can take to support industry and the economy in the face of this.

Hardly a โcheckmateโ. With Putinโs potash off the market, #Saskatchewan has been able to charge Americans 50% higher than the offshore price for potash. The absolute worst this could do is make us charge market prices. We still have >40% profit margins at that rate. #skpoli
๐จ๐จMAJOR BREAKING DONALD TRUMP CHECKMATES CANADA by opening up Potash trade from Belarus!! Here comes the tariffs on Saskatchewan potash! WOW!
