More shootings are coming to mind: Gabby Giffords was shot in 2011 and survived. Steve Scalise was shot in 2017 and survived. Minnesota lawmakers were shot and killed in 2025. And Harvey Milk was shot and killed in 1978. I'm sure there are more I'm missing. One is too many.

The violence continued into the 70's & 80's. There were 2 attempts on Pres. Ford, George Wallace was shot while running for president, and Pres. Reagan was shot in 1981. That had pretty much been it until President Trump was shot, and now the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk.
