Since 200,000+ asylum seekers have entered #NYC, AAFSC has created a ‘second home’ for many. We offer ESOL classes and distribute items like toiletries, clothing, and food. Thanks for highlighting our impact across NYC, BK Reader and @BklynFoundation! https://t.co/CeHLwNO79B

AAFSC joined @cacf's Invisible No More Campaign because data is power. MENA communities in NYC are often categorized as “white” or “other,” erasing their unique challenges. The lack of data leaves them invisible in critical conversations about equity. Visibility matters.

Stretches of the once-bustling avenue are now noticeably emptier. Cops have lately been using unmarked cars to take vendors by surprise. “They have removed practically everyone,” one said. “They’re out at dawn, in the morning, in the afternoon, at night."

As Donald Trump prepares to begin mass deportations, the mayor has launched a crackdown on immigrant street vendors.

Did you know that demographic data about Middle Eastern and North African New Yorkers is lumped in with the white category? “Notable legislation awaiting action from Gov Hochul” can change that - @CityAndStateNY. #CountMENAIn

Headlines like this are why we must do more to address food insecurity in NY. SNAP is the most effective program to combat hunger. Every $1 invested in SNAP generates btwn $1.50 - $1.80 in local economic benefits. We must increase snap benefits next year.
More New Yorkers are relying on food pantries to get enough to eat now than before the pandemic — including many people with jobs, and without serious health issues: https://t.co/sbPll9xQZB

The Democratic Party must stop ignoring its various constituencies. MENA communities deserve to be heard and represented. We can start doing so in NY by signing my bill with @SenGianaris, A6219B/S6584C into law to disaggregate the data of our MENA neighbors. #CountMENAIn
Trump won Dearborn, where more than half the population is of Middle Eastern or North African descent.

HR 9495 is set to be reintroduced next week. TELL Congress to vote NO on this bill:

As soon as tomorrow, the House will vote on a bill that would give the incoming Trump administration a new tool they could use to stifle free speech, target political opponents, and punish groups that disagree with them. https://t.co/TNlvgjkC6g
