This morning a student was working on his social studies and commented that he was glad I made them memorize the states because it made his current assignments much easier. Memorization is good and necessary and students don’t dislike it as much as some people say they do.

Highlands has introduced daily, unstructured recess for all Upper School Students this year! It is a time to enjoy the fresh air, play games, and connect with classmates before returning to the classroom. It has been a hit!

I don’t worry about kids of today not knowing how to use technology. I worry about them not being able to function without it. The best thing schools (especially k-8) can do for kids is provide them with a tech-free (or low tech) environment so they learn what life untethered to

We'll see, still think Detroit is attractive MLS expansion market. But the irony is that the Detroit MLS expansion bid in 2017 failed largely because it was changed from a proposed new outdoor soccer-specific stadium to existing indoor Ford Field. The future of soccer is roofed.
@AlexiLalas Not that I really care much anymore, but yet another blow to any hope of Detroit getting an MLS franchise. Unless MLS allows a domed stadium.

Parents, if your children never read at home, rarely have writing assignments, & need a calculator to do simple math, but bring home stellar report cards every time, you need to ask questions. We’re currently witnessing the fallout from grade inflation in k-12 & it’s not pretty.

Switching to five divisions is definitely a route I anticipated the league taking. With 6 teams per division, I believe this is how it would be divided. Southeast: - DC United - Charlotte - Nashville - Atlanta - Orlando - Miami Northeast: - Philadelphia - NY Red Bull - New
Per @PaulTenorio, MLS is preparing to officially move to a fall-spring schedule aligned with top European leagues. The league is also expected to vote on a new single-table format with five divisions, replacing the current two-conference system.
