The project also inspired the historic Navika Sagar Parikrama — the first all-woman circumnavigation by six officers in 2018 and the Navika Sagar Parikrama II this year.

Commander Dilip Donde became the first Indian to complete a solo circumnavigation. Commander @abhilashtomy went further — the first Indian and second Asian to achieve a non-stop solo circumnavigation under sail.

He inherited his love for nature and ecology from his zoologist father, and wrote three on books, was the Chairman of @ESPune and a member of @BNHSIndia .

As Fleet Commander, he had marched into the officer his CinC, Admiral Rusi Ghandy and demanded approval to set up @MHSofIndia . Ghandhy sanctioned a princely sum of ₹1000 and predicted that the institute wouldn’t last a year. Thankfully Ghandhy was wrong!
