as "common sense" gets you the katana steel myths, or "swords are just status symbols" it "makes sense because" because swords don't cut through armor so swords are useless
it's only slightly better than making shit up lol

I just cross reference museum examples and art from the same era + some written stuff. Though my works are fantasy they're not horribly wrong I hope
The most important thing is to never use "common sense" if you want any semblance of historical authenticity

Looks very good
One thing I could never understand about the original gekokujo was why the cavalry would rarely couch their spears or stab with them, but just hit them with the shaft which did like 3 damage.

the historical accuracy argument makes no sense also because all games in Japanese settings are complete fantasy anyways.
That the: history, culture, arms and armor, fighting choreography etc. is all made up doesn't matter to these people, just "black ppl and women in my game!"

It was the cavalry that used tachi or naginata that did the killing lol
the thing is that you could still couch a few of them. I don't know why he made it that way because there is no realistic reason to not be able to couch any spear.

"Samurai didn't fight" is a statement that often isn't even true in the Edo period.
Also, wars were not "mostly fought with peasants", trained and well armed soldiers are important in any war

Medieval things in fashion is an odd trend, I've seen a lot of armor for some reason. Maybe maille and plate is making a comeback.

All samurai didn't just sit around doing nothing during war time. It's pretty common to use "common sense", but we don't think like Japanese people did 1560.
We can't imagine a higher social class fighting in wars back in the day, but they did. Even quite wealthy people did.
