show me your home lab! “What’s your choice for a single best aid to an interesting and productive circuit design career? A PhD? An IQ of 250? A CAD workstation? Getting a paper into the Solid State Circuit Conference? Befriending the boss? I suppose all of these are of some

almost ready to lay out this sensor board. would anyone watch a live stream, or the recording? like if yes.

i appreciate the kind shoutout! this is what i love about X and sharing projects in real time with a community. can't wait to see your bot moving around @realwillreil
The solution has been found! Now time to solder. Shoutout to @zackslab for suggesting this off the bat then having to sit and watch me fiddle with an oscilloscope before trying it. The balancing bot is back on track!

wow, thank you to the 1k people who have decided to follow me here. i've had so much fun looking at your pages/projects and engaging with you all. mostly thank you @i2cjak for inspiring me to start posting a few weeks ago. i owe you a beer and some activated almonds.

do you want to understand electricity? electricity is a wave. information and energy propagate in fields. it is NOT water in a pipe. it's NOT electrons "flowing." the ENERGY is in the EM wave, the copper is merely a guide. fields first, electrons second. link to full vid

There's never enough time to do it right, but somehow there's always enough time to do it again.

LoRa project update: have been collecting data for a few days. everything is working surprisingly well but i'd like to improve reliability on the sensors that are further away (sensors 6 and 7 are ~200m away behind a large metal structure). i've already changed my gateway
my weekend project: a fully custom encrypted protocol on top of LoRa for a sensor/gateway network i plan to turn into a product.

what is a volt? ask an electrical engineer they'll and usually say something like "it's electrical potential" or "it's like water pressure but for electricity" ...which are qualitative analogies for intuition but it says nothing about what ONE volt IS and how it is quantified.

just following up on this: some people seem to be missing the point and are confusing this with the nyquist sampling theorem. this is an ANALOG bandwidth problem. scopes have two main “speed” specs: - analog bandwidth (in mhz) - sample rate (in GS/s) the scope on the left

can you truly see a 54 MHz square wave on a 100 MHz bw scope? no! just because your signal's fundamental frequency is under your scope's bandwidth, doesn't mean you can see it and all of its harmonics. same signal, two different scopes, two very different stories!

are you looking for something to do this winter? teach yourself to weld, you won’t regret it! it can actually make you stronger because you can weld pull-up bars to your ceiling.
