Does your dog truly love you? I spoke with a murderer's row of canine researchers to find out the answer to that question and other mysteries. @gberns @EvanMacLean @zachary_silver @ClaraHBWilson @LabHecht @PennVetWDC @fredguterl

The rapidly growing field of "canine cognition" is revealing new insights about the often-enigmatic behaviors of our fabulous furry four-legged friends.

I'm so excited to join the Oxy Psych department this fall and work with such a talented group of researchers and educators!
In a few months I'll be the only tenured member of my department. Everyone from the time of my hire will be gone. But the flipside is that we've gotten to hire @JamieAmemiya, @nicholaspalt, @zachary_silver, & @nm_grebe. I'm so excited to rebuild Oxy Psych with this amazing crew!

I had the honor of making an appearance on the Good Dog Pod this week. We discussed dog training, cognition, and how to set a good example for the dogs in your home! Here's a link to the podcast for anyone who is interested:

A growing number of researchers are hot on the trail of a surprisingly profound question: What makes dogs such good companions?

This project began as my senior thesis at @IL_Wesleyan and has become a large part of my research program at @yaledoglab. Thank you to everyone involved with this research - I’m thrilled to share it with you all!
Trained agility dogs prefer to approach and accept a treat from a prosocial human actor compared to an antisocial human actor, whereas untrained pet dogs show no preference. Suggests training and life experiences affect a dog's social evaluation ability. https://t.co/I7fCcmGSUS

I’m incredibly excited to share this research regarding dogs’ social evaluation tendency. In our study, agility-trained dogs, but not untrained dogs, demonstrated a preference for a prosocial experimenter over an antisocial experimenter.
