I watched "Britney Spears: Chasing Freedom". It was 20 min of backstory. ~30 seconds about the DUI. Alex Stone: "Between now and May, the DA could decide to move forward with it or not to move forward with it."

People think because we “freed Britney” (quotations because really she freed herself) we’re accountable for any mistakes she makes post-cship completely missed the point of the movement. It was #FreeBritney PERIOD not #FreeBritneyButOnlyAsLongAsSheLivesALifeDevoidOfAnyMistakes

Following Britney Spears' recent DUI arrest, members of the Free Britney movement released a statement reaffirming their support for the star. Full details: https://t.co/9CSY2VjFCO(📸: Larry Busacca/Getty)

Friendly reminder that there were laws passed in California as a result of happened with Britney - AB 1194 and AB 1663. These laws make it much harder for someone to be put into a conservatorship. #JusticeForBritney

Surprised that this group of operatives didn’t jump on this.
Yep yep yep 🔥 These opponents were either carrying out a personal vendetta or part of a larger effort to undermine movement solidarity, and they were willing to SABOTAGE important legislation for people with disabilities to do so. Thankfully, they failed.

Seems to be a specific gripe about a June 2021 ABC News special though?

Her point about the fake advocate on TMZ is correct, but come on, the movement did not ignore disabled people. Disability rights activists hosted the termination rally, and together we passed multiple conservatorship reform laws in California.
This is why it always bothered me that the Disabled people, like myself, who started the "Free Britney" discussion were ignored Because the minute she's not a perfect model of disability or mental illness these ableds are ready to take her rights away again! You can't trust em🤷🏽♀️

So exactly *why* did a judge think it was necessary to place and keep a non-elderly adult in a conservatorship? You be the judge, @MattZeitlin 🤔

They put Britney to work almost immediately. Her appearance on “How I Met Your Mother” saved the show from cancellation. https://t.co/TGj01d6QIE
“The episode was out within two months of the conservatorship starting,” Eliscu pointed out. “How is someone who was that ill well enough to go to work?”

Here is the team conspiring to schedule the court hearing so that they’d have the right judge, one who would grant Britney’s dad the power to administer psychotropic drugs. https://t.co/WKSZObnwVe

I have to go, but someone find these receipts: - the team celebrating that they got the easy judge - the judge trying to score concert tickets

Britney did try to hire her own lawyer to contest the conservatorship, but the judge kicked him out and replaced him with a lawyer she didn’t want — for 13 YEARS. https://t.co/jlMfBg3gro
This is Adam Streisand. He is the lawyer who Britney Spears hired to represent her, but the judge ejected him from the courtroom claiming she couldn’t hire her own attorney. #FreeBritney

When Britney’s treating psychiatrist refused to testify that she was unfit to hire her own lawyer, the team found a willing accomplice to file a capacity declaration. https://t.co/mJzoUB30DG
However, just 2 days later, they were back in court with a capacity declaration not from Dr. Marmer, but from Dr. James Spar who declared that Britney lacked the capacity to hire an attorney or attend these hearings. Reva Goetz confirmed her rulings on this basis. #FreeBritney

Britney’s family sought out a psychiatrist willing to initiate the involuntary 5150 hold that would lead to conservatorship. https://t.co/ZWdkf5XT6g
Everything was falling into place for Team Con. Next was to trigger another hold so Team Con could get the legal motions in place to take over Britney's person and estate. Dr. Deborah Nadel allegedly helped them trigger a second 5150 hold on January 31, 2008.
