I taught myself the lost art of cable lacing from a NASA document to make a pretty box! I designed and 3D printed a custom socket to tighten banana plugs, and a nesting comb system to perfect the layout. Learned a lot!

Ok this is so cool. I was reading a paper which included a table. I wanted to reproduce that table in my LaTeX document. So I took a screen shot of it, pasted it into ChatGPT, and asked ChatGPT to give me the LaTeX code for it. And it did.

I’d always wanted to see one of these in real life: an incredible Chinese ‘banquet’ composed of natural stones that resemble food! I had seen the occasional photograph of similar banquets, but this was better than any of them. What a feast!

Just so you all know…when you floss every day your dentist doesn’t ask “are you flossing every day?” They just know. And instead they say, “good hygiene.” And it’s like meeting God.

The end of an epoch: TeX Users Group will no longer ship TeX Collection DVDs to the members (but they still can download and make them). TUG started as a group for distributing TeX tapes. Internet made this activity redundant, and we now have different tasks.

These discussions around the capabilities of LLMs remind me of the famous (?) Chinese Room debate between Searle and Hofstadter/Dennett. Quite amazing that such a thought experiment is now actually being tested

Conversational, non-authoritative communication requires more qualification - and more parenthetical components - than punctuation rules that were established in print can support, and so I guess what I'm saying is use the em-dash as much as you like and never feel bad about it.
