The absolute easiest thing most people could do to immediately improve the taste of their cooking is start using MSG. No kidding. It should be as basic to seasoning as salt or sugar, and that most of us don't use it based on old, debunked misinformation is quite ridiculous.

My favourite (if controversial) summer barbecue hack is to buy a half loaf of bread and get them to run it through the slicer lengthways instead of sideways. It produces a sausage-sized piece of bread that makes for perfect “sausage in bread”. You’re welcome.

Pubs should charge an extra $2-3 for a side salad with a schnitzel. Reduce food waste. The extra charge allows them to put a bit more effort into making the salad actually good. Frees up plate real estate for more chips without having to put the schnitzel on top. Everyone wins.
