I'm really grateful to have had an opportunity to write this. THIS is what a lot of us in local news deal with behind the scenes. I hope folks can better understand what this is like to live through.

"Used to protecting themselves from racist critiques, they’ve overcorrected, deflecting reasonable questions from the people they once uplifted...None of these men has been meaningfully canceled..." A thought-provoking read from @elamin88 @BuzzFeedNews https://t.co/yTI4wHSB5F

I took a step back to reflect on our talk and @afrolanews’s early critics. "My critics are right. Yes, I’m an “outsider.” But, perhaps if THEY widen THEIR lens to understand AfroLA, they might understand that I’m new, but...interested in collaboration, not takeover." 2/3

"Am I allowed to do this? Is this the right thing? Am I a traitor to the race?" On the latest episode of @Slate's How To! podcast, @karynfolan said what I've been thinking about for months in our convo with @HeleneBiandudi. 1/3

#EJCP4 introduced me to dozens of wonderful journalism creators and entrepreneurs from around the world. It was empowering to know I wasn't alone in this work and how pervasive it is. Check out some of what they're doing here:

I was really thrilled to write this freelance piece for @NewAmerica. Accountability for how #PublicInterestTech tools serve people and who they ultimately serve is key to ensuring accessibility and equity, especially for the most vulnerable groups.

📱 During the pandemic, #PublicInterestTech tools, like COVID exposure apps, were created. Were they worth the effort? Dana Amihere (@write_this_way) weighs in on these tools, with a focus on California's robust portfolio of software. https://t.co/FjMZO6XnHp

I'm not one for posting personal opinions online, esp. about controversial topics. But, this account from a friend broke me. Children's lives matter, yes. But, women aren't just incubators for breeding. The lives of mothers –– their mental and physical well-being –– matter, too.

Last year on this day, I was 6 weeks pregnant and had to go to the ER because a panic attack led to me bleeding out for 4 days straight. The pregnancy was plummeting my mental & physical health. If I didn't get an abortion, I could've died.

Plastic bottles, straws, coffee cups and takeaway containers are all made up of the single-use plastics being banned in the EU this week. Plus, period products, wet wipes and tobacco will need to have warning labels. But will all member states agree? 👇 https://t.co/lr4udZ8Soa
