Sports, politics, geography, etc. I went to Southern Miss. Proud zoomer. It's pronounced Hattie-spurg.

Chicago should strongly consider kicking it out of bounds if they don't onsides.

Update on this post SEC going to 9 plus some schools announcing games in the meantime. Highlighted have an opening (or 2), do not play on 9/19, and have not scheduled FCS.

Saints win 5 this season. Beat NYG, NE, CAR (home), ATL (home), and NYJ.

They're so bitter after Huff that their team site guys have pivoted to "yeah our conference title team was no good."

When you can push out a coach that won 62% of his games, beat Notre Dame, and won a league title so you can hire the architect of the ACC's 13th best defense solely because he's from a state that produces less football talent than Metro Hattiesburg.... you gotta do it.

Fine. I'll say it. Charles Huff is better at coaching football than Ellis Johnson.

Dimitroff is one of those guys that flamed out as GM but he sounds smart on podcasts. That's more than you can say about Matt Millen, etc.
Source: The Saints have hired ex-Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff as a consultant. Dimitroff spent 3-plus years as SumerSports CEO before leaving the company in April, and was with New Orleans thru camp. He'll help GM Mickey Loomis in all facets. Team will announce the hire soon.

(And I say this as someone that thought the Patriots dynasty was mostly him pre-2020)

I kinda think Belichick is like a Whole Foods Vic Fangio that stumbled into the greatest team athlete in North American professional sports history but if he somehow gets UNC to the playoff at some point then I'd change my tune.

My unironic take about yesterday is we're vastly better than last year (not saying much) and would have lost 52-0 or worse in 2024. I also think we're not all that great but I was always more bearish than the median fan on this team --- predicted 5, maybe 6 wins. App game is key.

What a strange career Mike Shula has had. Spent 15 years in the NFL then his first college job was HC at Bama (alma mater). Washed out then went back to the NFL for another 15+ years and is now back in college as an OC at South Carolina 20+ years after being hired at Alabama.

I used to think Saban was merely a pretty good in-game coach whose superpower was cracking the code on building a roster and modern program building. Kalen DeBoer is making me rethink this.
