Beyond emergency support, what mattered most was listening. Afghan women themselves guided the response, defining what safety meant in that moment. That is what our 🤝 w/ Afghan women looks like: not imposing frameworks but responding 2 their definitions of peace in each moment.

This rapid response became the catalyst for creating the @wphfund Window for Women Human Rights Defenders, designed to respond to the urgent protection & advocacy needs of #WHRDs across conflict & crisis settings. To date, it has supported 420 Afghan women.

In #Afghanistan, that truth became stark overnight.  When Kabul fell, @wphfund was able to respond swiftly, providing life-saving relocation support, medical assistance, and psychosocial care for women targeted by the Taliban.

Around the world, women human rights defenders in all their diversity have long been defining what peace means. Their vision is not abstract: it is grounded in survival, safety, education, dignity & the possibility to rebuild. They know peace without women is not peace at all.

We’ve provided protection grants to 878 #WHRDs & their 3,120 dependents across 24 countries — women who have endured sexual harassment & #CRSV, among other threats. 148 of them have received support to boost their digital safety, from secure tech to critical protection measures.
