My idea is that funds will lead to hours that I can pay contributors to help update the kit. More funds can also lead to rivate team consultation about the usage of the kit, early access to new versions, and access to custom components that are built within the same kit.

I think my choice not to put any semantic layer in the shadcn/ui kit was spot-on when doing actual heavy design system work. No semantic layer means you can change colors across the board with ease.

We’re working for a US startup client. Very exciting: fast pace, vibe coding informing design and vice versa, using our shadcn kit for speed. Working on integrating AI into features. Fluid comms via Slack.

Figma IPO today. I bought 50 shares, $27 limit order. Minimum I could set up in my stocks app. Probably will not fill. will watch the price over time.

The design goal of the kit was to provide a lean kit, but the steps you have to go through to add the add-ons are a bit convoluted: variables via plugins, a complicated and CPU-heavy copy/paste of 1500+ icons for the icons part. It's not user friendly.

I find that people aren't discovering the add-ons. Adding them makes the library larger but also maybe easier to use for certain purposes (e.g. fixing vibe coded designs)
