As the initial MtGox bitcoin repayments have finally begun, first of all a big thank you to the dedicated creditor community which has steadfastly navigated and helped each other through this unprecedented situation for over a decade.

Wright's application was, as usual, full of misrepresentations and irrelevant bluster, but the Court of Appeal cut through it like a hot knife through butter and comprehensively rejected it as totally without merit.

Craig Wright was just denied permission to appeal the UK court decision declaring him not to be Satoshi Nakamoto. He thus remains the only human with that distinction; legally speaking, we are all (potentially) Satoshi, except Craig Wright.

If you have questions like "why didn't I get 21% of my BTC?", then read my explainer on the payouts and the unit of account that payout rates refer to. Long story short: it's complicated, and the actual payout number you presumably care about is 15-16%.

There's no need to dox yourself with revealing questions as long as your repayments are roughly in those ranges; you're fine and everything is going according to plan, don't worry.

As a rule of thumb, if you opted for a lump-sum payment, you should get 15% or more of your BTC balance, plus cash. If you opted for final payment, you should get a bit over 5% now and another 10% or more eventually. The % is higher for smaller claims.

Note that even something seemingly innocuous like mentioning what percentage of your MtGox balance you got paid out can reveal how large your claim was, and potentially paint a target on your back.

Most creditors are receiving quite a bit more money than they originally invested; in some cases surely life-changing amounts. Assuming you're going to keep hodling, please do be careful and read up on Bitcoin opsec so you don't take unnecessary risks.

Update: In direct response to Craig Wright seemingly trying to move assets out of the country after his court loss, Judge Mellor has issued a Worldwide Freezing Order against him.
Sooo. 🤔. Sep 25: Calvin makes a "deal with Craig" allowing him to fund himself. Oct 2-20: Craig registers a new company with £20M worth of shares split between himself and Ramona. Mar 18 (but dated Feb 5): Craig reassigns his £10M shares to their Singapore company.

(The registrations do claim the 20M shares are valued at £1 each and fully paid for with cash, but it's not like Wright hasn't falsely reported company assets before — it's kind of his thing.).
