@CWBChicago We as a society need to see this and understand that we must stop trying to rehabilitate monsters who cannot be rehabilitated. Pure evil cannot be fixed with “restorative justice”. We have to stop enabling the violent criminal element in the name of social progressiveness

@Sal_LaBarbera No way to explain to someone what it’s like to knock on that door and sit with a family after turning their world upside down and inside out.

Away from the serious side of people losing their lives. The family members and hundreds affected by one life lost. It is comical to watch cases play out in the media with the experts and especially social media keyboard warriors. Love to see any of these folks respond to a

@w_h_thompson It seems notable that the fatality rate of all shootings in Chicago is about 18%, but the fatality rate for shooting victims not afforded the courtesy of a 911 call is 50%.

Residents of the South Shore building targeted by federal agents blame the owner and property manager for “inhumane” conditions that city efforts did little to improve and which predated the arrival of immigrants. Read more:

An 11 year old boy laid for hours in the street shot to death two nights ago in a spot that used to have technology that couldve gotten him help, and our governor thinks the concept that there’s crime here is a literal laughing matter. He’s making a joke of it. Literally.

Yesterday, an 11 year old black boy was found shot dead by a woman’s car as she headed to work. Almost 1600 people have been shot this year, 356 homicides. 147 of those shot were minors, 34 children have been killed. We are back to pre-COVID numbers, our city is out of control.

I think the words of a Chicago trauma ER doctor to CFD paramedics as he inserted an intraosseous IV into a GSW victim on a Friday evening in mid-July put it best, “..Thank goodness you all found him when you did.”

Anyone who has driven to a Shotspotter emergency alert can tell you it is a more accurate and credible reporter of gunfire than 95% of human callers. From audio recordings, to mapped out geolocated markers of rounds, etc. The list goes on. This tech works, 130 cities know it.

As a city, Chicago has never made a more arrogant or misguided decision on anything than the one they made on Shotspotter—and to see people STILL defending it is just baffling to me, and should be to any self-respecting intellectual.

And then explain to me how the fact that a report wasn’t generated for an aggravated discharge, or that casings weren’t inventoried, somehow means the technology failed and that gunfire didn’t occur at all. I’ll tell you why you’re dead wrong.

And before anyone tells me it didn’t work, explain to me how we as Chicagoans know better than New York or Los Angeles, both of which have lower violent crime numbers—and who detected less legitimate gunfire with the system than us even if you COMBINE them.

Then imagine there used to exist a service that would have called 9-1-1 for them, and that help would have come and maybe saved a life. Imagine there were hundreds, if not thousands of examples of exactly that happening. Then imagine that politicians turned it off. Why?

Has the line ever been more clearer on wrong vs right, on ethical vs unethical, on responsible vs irresponsible, than it is on the Shotspotter “debate”? Imagine finding out your loved one died in the street, laid there for hours, and nobody called 9-1-1. So no one came.

A woman going to work this morning found a young boy shot to death next to her car. She told police she heard gunfire overnight, but didn’t call 911. Neither did anybody else. Too bad the mayor disconnected ShotSpotter. https://t.co/02isFtDj9h

47 people shot this weekend! No protests or calls for peace. No politicians or clergy demanding an end to the violence because they can’t blame the President for it. Most Chicago “leaders” are hypocrites & grief peddlers. Nothing more, nothing less!

In essence: over the last few years you all have been conditioned to believe it’s perfectly fine to perpetually antagonize, intimidate, and even attack softened and toothless law enforcement. However, be mindful that federal officers are not bound by the rules you created for CPD

Chicago Police Chief Superintendent Larry Snelling: “We don’t have to agree with it. It doesn’t matter… We do not interfere with [federal agents] orders… CPD will not arrest and cannot arrest federal agents. Because someone deems what they’re doing is illegal.”
