You need an employer and £38,700 pa for a skilled jobs visa, so that rules out most of this lot. Presumably targeted at translators/interpreters, where there probably is a shortage.

I probably do this most nappy changes. Still picture the pig trotting out the door with a basket.

Niche travel advice request. Do you have a favourite German Hanseatic town? We are going from Sassnitz to Hamburg and want to stop on the way. Bonus points for things to do with toddlers.

"A poem’s politics can’t be neatly deduced from its formal surface, or a poet’s politics from her chosen verse style.". Thankfully the myth Allen skewers here hasn't completely taken hold in the UK. Yet.

Is it practically impossible to be an honest poet-critic today?. A new essay of mine on the decline of reviewing culture, the rise of the poetry prizes, artistic standards and integrity. Over at the @NorthSeaPoets Substack:.

This Q feels so much more instructive than standard polling given how far out we are from an election. suggests every party has a similar ceiling. odd we don't see it more often. almost as if. .

18% of Britons say they are likely to consider voting for a new left-wing party led by Jeremy Corbyn. However, this is less than would consider voting for the existing major parties and has caveats. 🧵

There is a long answer to this kind of stuff and a short answer, but regardless I always think it does poetry down. As if the poems themselves weren't enough.

Ezra Pound sees the artist as a direct descendant of the ancient shaman or magician. At the same time, Fernando Pessoa calls himself a mystic poet. In both authors, as well as Yeats and Eliot, poetry is not just a collection of metaphors, but an initiation into the mysteries.

god, that Salt Path exposé is surely the work of ChatGPT. how can you be an investigate journalist and not have a distinctive voice? how do you write about something that juicy but manage to make it all so bland?.

Penniless and homeless, Raynor and Moth Winn found fame with The Salt Path: the story of their 630-mile walk to salvation. It became a global bestseller and was adapted into a major film. But we can reveal it wasn’t the whole truth. @chloehadj. Read:

I love you but please stop splitting infinitives when posting on style and give some thought to your philosophy of adverbs.
