Trust me, rate increases aren’t something I smile about. BUT I loved explaining how we’re rebuilding our water system to ensure safe water now and for future generations of Pittsburghers.
Water rates are going up in the City of Pittsburgh (projected by 20% in each of the next three years). What are ratepayers getting in return? Will Pickering of the Water & Sewer Authority updates the $470-million Water Reliabilty Plan, Sunday at 11 on Channel 11, WPXI.

Such a fun opportunity to showcase our use of federal grant dollars to improve public health. (And yes, I’m brandishing a lead pipe).
It was an honor to host @MayorEdGainey, and mayors from across the state on their “Mayor’s are Rebuilding PA” tour last week. We were able to show them some important lead line replacement work, made possible with funding from the American Rescue Plan Act.

Awesome kudos from a leading voice for Pittsburgh in Harrisburg. We’re committed to making all of our stakeholders proud to drink PGH2O.
The PA Constitution guarantees us a right to pure water and I’m proud @pgh2o is improving Pittsburgh’s public water. Replacing ~10K lead lines (so far), rehabilitating a reservoir, & building a pump station are advances we saw in 2022. 💧: #WorldWaterDay

I love this video! - 5 years of blood, sweat and tears, summed up in about 1 minute.
There's a lot of excitement surrounding the removal of our 10,000th lead service line—and for good reason. The work we're doing, in partnership with federal, state, and local partners and stakeholders, is critical to improving public health in our region!

An awesome day for our team and our city. After years of hard work and collaboration, we’re more than halfway to removing all of the lead from our water system!.
Here it is! This lead line, replaced via the less-invasive pulling method, marks our 10,000th lead service line replaced in our service area! 🎉

Our Water Reliability Plan projects and ongoing collaboration with Duquesne Light will eventually improve resiliency and reduce the likelihood of these events. The projects are under way.

These precautionary advisories are inconvenient, but we must err on the side of caution when we lose pressure in our drinking water system.
We have issued a boil water advisory for portions of some eastern neighborhoods and South Oakland. Search our interactive map here: Read the press release: Follow updates at

It’s hard to summarize annual accomplishments when so of much we do is essential. I love how the team focused on water quality and operational maintenance in this one.
Watch this short video highlighting some of our accomplishments at PWSA from 2022 for a snapshot of high-level wins, especially as they relate to our twin goals of protecting public health and further maintaining and improving water quality!

More of the same…and that’s a good thing. Our water treatment continues to protect the minority of customers with lead service lines, and we’re more than halfway toward the goal of eliminating them by 2026.
PWSA continues to provide protection for those with lead service lines as the most recent round of testing is well below the state and federal action level. Read:
