Thank you to our amazing Mortar Board members for taking time from their MLK Jr Day to help select our new 2020-2021 members! Tapping for newly selected individuals will take place during Mortar Board Week, February 10-14.

In October, we held a book drive to benefit Anderson Elementary. In November, we donated the books with personal letters to students encouraging them to always continue reading and learning. In December, we received this update. Thank YOU for making a difference!

This last week, we kicked off the semester with our first Mortar Board meeting! We learned about our executive team and about each other with a t-shirt icebreaker.

The Fairmount chapter at @WichitaState hosted a Fresh Flowers For Your Graduate event. Members set up a table and had many beautiful flowers and cute teddy bears available for purchase during the graduation ceremony in order to raise money for their chapter. @wichitastateMB

Congratulations to our newest Mortar Board initiates! We spent this afternoon welcoming in our newest Mortar Bord members and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome each one of you into our amazing organization! Best of luck in the future and beyond!

@wichitastateMB at @WichitaState supported Mortar Board’s national project, Reading is Leading during Mortar Board Week. The members encouraged fellow students to write a few sentences about why reading is important in their life. Those who participated received a free donut!

On Monday, we awarded our inaugural Mortar Board Legacy Award to two students on campus that exel in our three ideals of Scholarship, Leadership and Service. Congrats to Kellie Deutsch of @wsuDG and Alex Ibarra of @WichitaSLB for being our inaugural recipients!

Yesterday we gave you donuts and today we give you Freddy’s! (Or at least a way to give back to a great cause). Proceeds will benefit our reading is leading initiative and go back to students in the 259 school district! Hope to see you there.

Craving a sweet tooth today? Stop by and visit us in the RSC from 11-1 every day this week to write a short few sentences about why reading is important in YOUR life and receive a free donut! These letters will be given to local elementary schoolers along with a free book!

Hey you, YES YOU! Mortar Board is hosting a give back nights at Freddy’s frozen custard from 5-9 Wednesday February 13th! The funds raised will be donated to a local organization/school here in Wichita to inform children on the importance of reading! Hope to see you there!
