We’re so excited for one of electrical engineering students, Jeffrey Thomas, who has an internship with the @BobcatCompany in North Dakota this summer! Jeffrey has been building a prototype machine and assisting with some harnessing design and creation for loader projects.

Earlier this month, 10 students from the Wichita State Rocket Club and their advisors from @TextronAviation attended the 2025 International Rocket Engineering Competition (IREC) in Midland, Texas. Congratulations on a successful launch and trip!

Last week, our director of marketing and communications, Leah Lamunyon, was able to host marketing personnel from throughout WSU. They were able to tour the @NIARWSU labs in the John Bardo Center, which is always such a fun and interesting tour!

One of our recent applied engineering graduates, Lauren Bulcroft, just finished a summer internship and transitioned into a full-time role with @McCarthyBuild! Her new full-time position will focus on a solar project near Denver, Colorado. Congratulations, Lauren!

The Dean’s Office and Engineering Student Success Center (ESSC) staff have been enjoying some final time with Dean Anthony Muscat before he departs for his new position😄, as well as welcoming Interim Dean Steven Skinner back to the Dean's Office💚.

We would like to welcome Taylor Cazabat as our new student engagement coordinator🤩! Her current role will involve coordinating student engagement and retention initiatives with a focus on mentoring programs, living-learning communities and college-wide activities and events👏.

Thank you to everyone who attended the farewell reception for Dean Anthony Muscat, the dean of our college through June 30💚. It was evident from remarks made that he has been a kind, compassionate, innovative, ambitious and dedicated leader who will be greatly missed👏🫶.

It was announced earlier this month that Dr. Steven Skinner, professor of electrical and computer engineering, will assume the role of interim dean of our college beginning June 9 to facilitate a smooth transition from Dean Anthony Muscat, whose last day will be June 30👏.

One of our biomedical engineering graduates, Alex Limon, is currently working as a Youth Ambassador for the USA Pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan👏. Alex started working when Expo 2025 started in mid-April and will continue to work through the end of the event in mid-October.

Dr. Anthony Vizzini, professor in aerospace engineering, has retired💚. Additionally, Laura Cook, administrative specialist in aerospace engineering, and Erin Perila, regional recruiter in the Kansas City area, will be retiring👏. Congratulations to each of them🎉!

It’s been nearly a month since we had the pleasure of hosting about 150 high school students for our annual Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day (IGED) event🫶. The event featured two inspirational speakers, hands-on activities and an Opportunity Fair😁.

Prior to graduating, two of our students won first place in the Shocker New Venture Competition for their idea, Astra System🤩. The involved students were Sivaganeshwar Subramaniam (industrial, systems and manufacturing engineering) and Pedro Cupertino (aerospace engineering)🎉.

We were thrilled to celebrate our graduates at a special event yesterday, and we could not be more happy for the nearly 120 graduate students who participated in commencement last night and the 240 undergraduate students who will be participating in commencement tonight🎉👏.
