there are always repertory treasures in L.A./NYC but feels like this season has been especially wild out east, or maybe my head is still reeling from lost Warhol/Morrissey (L'amour), lost Andy Milligan x2, never-screened Warhol (Blue Movie) run of screenings (plus Andrew Noren!).
I look at posts by mutuals who live in LA and NYC and it’s like “this week I’m seeing John Ford, Mizoguchi and Straub Huillet in 35mm and a Q&A with the ghost of Orson Welles”. Meanwhile my listings are “Shaun of the Dead 21st anniversary quote-along”.

I already have 3 versions of ROUTE ONE but will pick this up anyway, I've come this far. tried to retrace his drive in 2016 but only made it from Maine to Connecticut before I realized it was a pointless effort to commune with something not there for me.

ROUTE ONE/USA (1989) might be Robert Kramer's masterpiece, and LOOKING FOR ROBERT (2025) is a lovely and unsparing elegy by his French cameraman/producer/friend Richard Copans, if you haven't seen these, this is a must-pounce IMHO.
