BR didn’t even have this issue, as on a route like this, you had Intercity, with its distinctive black livery, on fast services versus Network SouthEast on stopping services, which was bright blue

There’s a whole lot of people out there who, for instance, know that, between Birmingham and London, there’s the “blue train” which is faster and more expensive (Avanti), and the “green train” which stops more and is cheaper (LNR). That’s just one out of many examples btw

okay but seriously one of the worst things about the GBR identity they’ve revealed is the complete lack of any service differentiation in the livery. A lot of the general public rely on a train’s livery to identify whether or not it’s likely to be theirs.

Just to clarify - I’m not trying to hate on the designer of this livery, I’m hating on whichever government minister gave them the most god awful nationalistic flag-shagging design brief that they had to work with, which when you consider, this is about the best we could hope for

The only thing I like about this is the double arrow and GBR text, one of which has been around since 1965 so they can’t exactly take credit…
