On Saturday, Congolese wildlife authority rangers confiscated an infant #chimpanzee from rebels & delivered him to Gorilla Doctors. He was tiny, only 3kg with a wound on his left hand that we treated. Drs. Eddy & Fabrice cared for him before transporting him to @lwiroprimates.

That being said, they are still considered among the most "loyal" of the #penguin species, compared to the popular Emperor penguins. 📸: Marcela Uhart, director of our Latin America Programs #BeMyValentine #ValentinesDay

Magellanic penguins are serially monogamous — with one male pairing with one female each breeding season, though not necessarily pairing up with the same mate from the previous season.

Happy #ValentinesDay DID YOU KNOW: Magellanic #penguins are frequently lumped under the assumption that all penguins mate for life, but that's not exactly true.

Our CA #MountainLion project lead Dr. Vickers contributed data to mortality maps from the #UCDavis Road Ecology Center which show that many cougars suffer similar fates as the late #P22, with 1-2 killed every week on CA roads and highways 2015-2022.

Also known as pumas, panthers, and cougars, the big cats live all over California, and might be closer than you think.

Since Sept 24, the Southern Right Whale Health Monitoring Program has been documenting an unusual mortality event that has killed at least 15 whales. Leading hypothesis for the cause of this sad, ongoing event: toxic algae. Latest update from the team: https://t.co/OvCQXNwKMh

So great to see the Drayers this past week! Karen & Phil Drayer's involvement with our work began 20+ years ago when they partnered with @ucdavisvetmed to provide much-needed funds to develop our center. To this day they continue to be avid supporters of our work!
