The World Is My Country: Great film on Garry Davis, screening for a very reasonable price here. Davis in 1940s famously surrendered his citizenship and promoted global integration as 'World Citizen #1.' Highly compelling figure.

Worth celebrating, and studying: the realization of a vision dating back hundreds of years. A struggle to achieve it and a struggle to keep it, but represents living proof of an alternate approach to borders and the movement of persons, with free-mvt regimes in S. America, etc.

The Schengen Agreement was signed exactly 40 years ago, in the Luxembourgian village bearing that name. It presents the greatest achievement of European federalism and international politics. 29 states, 450 million people, 4,595,000 km2. And no internal borders!

Never not terrifying: good rundown here from @washingtonpost of nuclear near misses. Good for classroom use -- possibly paired with something Waltzian positing a stable balance of terror in global system:

The May 2025 Eurobarometer shows Europeans desire a stronger, unified Europe. 81% back a shared defense policy—the highest since 2004. 78% worry about EU security. Trust in the EU is at 52%. It's time for federal reforms in foreign and defense policy. The future is now. 🇪🇺
