Yo, ye who depend on NIH grants for your livelihood. Here's another reason to make your Spec Aims page crystal clear: some study sections give members 2 min to read Spec Aim page b4 proposal is discussed. I learned this at my @PennBPP workshop from @MajaBucan

In celebration of table napkins in today's laundry! First time in a year that I got to have guests for a meal. Finally, in my Moderna-in-my-arm state, I can celebrate with similarly vaccinated folks.đŸ„‚

Shout out to the NIH program officers and CSR SROs that are handling an onslaught of COVID grant proposals with nearly impossible deadlines. Rolling review and deadline extensions are great for PIs, but can be crushing for POs, SROs, etc. I can't even imagine.

RT @PennMedEVDCSO: While the recent #COVID19 outbreak seems sudden to most of us, for @PennMicro's @weisssr who has been studying coronaviruses for decades, it an example of the gratification & impact of the slow & steady work of scientific discovery https://t.co/cvQ8NnunWq

Our newest paper on MERS and innate immunity is out this week in @mbiojournal. We looked at the role of two MERS-specific accessory genes, 4a and 4b in interfering with the innate immune response. A short thread on what I think are key points.
