Thank you for joining us at the Bentall Memorial as we remembered Gunther Couvreux, Donald W. Davis, Yrjo Mitrunen and Brian Stevenson. Every year, we honour them and renew our calls for improved occupational health and safety for every worker who puts on a hard hat.

Please join us tomorrow as we mark the 45th anniversary of the Bentall Tower IV tragedy. We gather to remember Gunther Couvreux; Donald Davis; Yrjo Mitrunen; and Brian Stevenson, as well as all the construction fatalities in the construction industry. It is time to do better.

New poll by Leger shows overwhelming support for building ferries locally. This confirms what we already knew — people are willing and eager to support shipbuilding right here at home. 🚢 👷‍♂️

UA Local 170 is excited to support the provincial government's historic investment in trades training. This is a massive win for apprentices, union training schools, the construction industry and the economy.

A historic $241M investment by the province in trades training means more British Columbians can build skills for good-paying jobs in construction, clean energy & tech. This is about opportunity, growth & a secure future for people and communities across B.C.

“We can’t compete with wages that are seven times less than us,” - @Seaspan CEO on how it couldn’t bid on @BCFerries ships as part of a process tilted towards the Chinese government. Echos Davie Shipyards. On East Coast.
Why is the “Canada Strong” Carney Government celebrating today all the benefits of made in Canada shipbuilding- with all their 🇨🇦 steel & aluminium- while they write out a $1Billion worth of cheques for vessels made by a state owned shipyard in the People’s Republic of China?

@WeBuildBC First Seaspan, now Davie. Two of Canada’s biggest shipyards say BC Ferries never gave them a fair shot. Tell your MLA and MP we want our ferries built at home: 👉 https://t.co/BpzNWhWOOe

A second Canadian shipyard has spoken out saying domestic firms never had a fair shot at the BC Ferries contract. The arguments against building these ferries in Canada are being exposed for the hollow excuses they always were.
Canada's oldest and largest private shipyard slams @BCFerries for a flawed procurement process that favoured buying its new ships from China. My latest in @TheOrcaBC: https://t.co/LJvYrJKeYU

In this photo, crews install rebar to prepare for a concrete pour on the south side of the bridge deck. Now that deck panels are installed, rebar is installed before concrete is poured over top, connecting all deck components.

Crews have completed girder installation for the bridge’s north approach in @New_Westminster! This photo from May shows a barge crane lifting the final girder into place for the north approach. These girders will be connected to the bridge’s main span.

BC’s growing communities need more schools, hospitals and key infrastructure built quickly. The infrastructure act is all about building BC - it means more shovels in the ground and the good paying jobs that come with them.
