I give tamarillo 1/10, jack fruit and mulberry 10/10. @rabbit_hmi’s ability to identify any of them is 0/10. Thanks @internet_pipes @stephsmithio for letting me to try so many new fruits and @MikeWigmore for letting me try your pokedex!

The new @SpotifyUSA AI is shockingly good, starting to become my default listening experience now. I wish I could talk with it though: tell it I want a workout mix right now, focus music, something fresh, etc.

10,000s of tons of CO2/year: how much we can remove from the air in 2023. 1,000,000,000s of tons of CO2/year: how much we need to remove by 2050. We need to double our capacity every 21 months for the next 27 years. Who’s working on this now? Read here:

Great explainer by @hankgreen on what all is in the IRA: the conclusion got me feeling a bit more hopeful about climate again.

Things you learn during Canadian winters #34. Level 1 icy driveway deterrence: pour salt on it.Level 2: use a torch or flamethrower to try and melt it.Level 3: give up, cover it with sand.

On that note, @ivyxvine just launched her podcast, Non-Technically Speaking! Every week she interviews non-tech leaders in tech around the world. Check it out and if you like it give it a rate/review!

Another example of mission critical infrastructure to get right: picking a podcast hosting platform. Apple, Spotify, and Google podcasts all don't give you option to change the rss provider you use so you'll be tied in for life to wherever you host.

I'll hand it to netlify, their cms and lambda functions are really easy and great to use. But it makes it extremely hard to move off of them. Good moat for them, bad for user dependence.

Day 1 of using netlify: wow this is so magical and easy! . Day before launch: deploys repeatedly inexplicably breaking, only fix being deleting app and pushing “new” app. Learned the hard way to not depend on magic for critical infrastructure, especially ones you can't move off.

When complexity gets overwhelming, externalize and decompose. Break what's hard to wrap your head around into smaller pieces and analyze each separately. Write all your thoughts down. Surprising the difference it makes.
