We just got spammed with anime complaints from people with major first world problems - this actually stopped all of those. It was always possible to just turn off the anime tag - but using filters is too hard for some people so we went with the big, unskippable "hide anime" btn.
Wallpaper Engine 2.0.97 adds free positioning of Android wallpapers, Display HDR support on Windows and a ton of bug fixes related to Android. Check out the full news and changelog here:

No, it's not a hardware problem. Black screens typically occur only with "Video" type wallpapers when your system is missing the required codecs or your GPU drivers run into an error. Users can reliably fix this by following the steps we outline here:
#WallpaperEngine
just received support for dynamic text in Scene wallpapers which not only gives users to add subtle and animated text to wallpaper images but also more complex elements like clocks and timers.

Check out this really cool audio visualizer created in the Wallpaper Engine scene editor by "Vell". Audio bars and trippy speaker in the back - reacts to your audio and mouse movement. Performs and looks great, you can find in on the Steam Community here:
We're back on Twitter and we have some catching up to do! Have you tried out SceneScript yet? It allows you to create more complex wallpapers inside the Wallpaper Engine editor, including user interaction! Check out the technical docs and tutorials here:

Unfortunately, iOS does not support "true" live wallpapers, it only supports Apple's own "Live Photos" as wallpapers but it's a really limited format that would not be compatible with the vast majority of Wallpaper Engine wallpapers.
We have just released our

Chroma update, new Razer wallpapers and improved the Wallpaper Engine Editor, check out the complete update news here:
If you want to learn how to use the Wallpaper Engine scene editor, check out the YouTube channel of user 'Vell' who has created some excellent tutorials on various techniques you can use to create cool animations:

Hey, any word on the broken desktop animations (since 19536)? It's been quite a while and you have yet to acknowledge the issue which is rather frustrating for us & our users. Let us know if we can help out with this somehow.
Wallpaper Engine was featured at the
#TI9
#SteamChina
launch event in Shanghai today. We had a good time chatting with other devs, users and press members and we're working with
@steam_games
and Perfect World to get Chinese users the complete Workshop experience in the future.

You're really not telling the full story there, your screenshot is from November and the content you are showing there was banned shortly after it was taken.
We ban hundreds of malicious uploads every day, just because we miss a few does not mean the Steam rules aren't enforced
The latest Wallpaper Engine update introduces support for command-line controls, so other applications can now interact with your wallpaper set-up if you let them.
We also added a winter theme and collection of wintery wallpapers ❄️. Full changelog here:

That is not true, Wallpaper Engine has absolutely no functionality built-in to launch Steam - we specifically built it so that it does not require Steam to function because that would be hella annoying. If you need help, reach out to us via our Steam Discussion board or email.

@ETiredTweets
@ZenovajXD
It should be set to "Pause" by default. For "Other application full-screen" you can also set it to "Stop (free memory)" which will essentially completely unload the wallpaper for full-screen games which means RAM and CPU usage drops to virtually 0 when in-game.
You can now also buy Wallpaper Engine on the
@humble
store and support a charity of your choice at no extra cost! You will receive a Steam key and full access to the Steam Workshop as usual, check it out here:
Here's a more advanced but very cool Wallpaper Engine video tutorial showcasing how to create an on-screen rain drop effect with a custom particle system in the Scene editor:
@NyTR0S96
Yes, because we estimate that 60 - 70% of our users have an Android device, while only 1% of Steam users run Linux. And on top of that, creating an Android version is still much easier because its much more streamlined and does not include a full rework of the PC user interface.
@mavroses
@WajaTheHAT
Wallpaper Engine will pause automatically when you open a game, you can also configure it to completely stop when you start games or other full-screen apps, in which case there is no performance drop at all. 📈
@hibikiimochiii
Lol, but seriously, if you are having black screens, it's usually a driver issue (clean re-installation fixes it) or you are missing the appropriate video codecs (if you are using a "Video" type wallpaper). Hit us up via email if you need help.
@Coolio_Wolfus
@pcgamer
Ah you created the desktop shortcut through Steam, in that case Steam actually creates a shortcut to Steam with the Wallpaper Engine icon which is indeed a bit confusing - I forgot that it does that. Fix: Just create a shortcut to wallpaper32.exe in the wallpaper_engine directory
@Corndrizzlydog
We don't do sales, we just set the price really low so that people don't have to wait for sales to buy our app. It's just psychological trickery anyway.
@Henkenbergen
Unten links im Interface ist der Button für den Editor. Von da ein Bild laden und animieren. Am besten vorher die richtige Auflösung zuschneiden. Hier ein paar Tutorials:
@SBattlestation
@Apple
iOS does not support true live wallpaper apps, this is why we have never released an iOS version. But most people don't know this and still look for it and fall prey to these ad-infested fake apps.
@2015ROBI03
You are right, we forgot to add that to our FAQ and will do that soon. The ports are 7884 (UDP) and 7889 (TCP), it uses a multicast on 239.100.0.1 if that helps.
@rannilover
Wallpaper Engine can't "crash" your monitor, it sounds like your graphics card driver keeps resetting which is usually a driver or hardware issue. If you need help, post on our forums or send us an email, we can usually tell you the root cause for this.
If you have stuck Steam Workshop downloads (0%, 100%, "Missing Downloaded Files" error), please switch to the Steam beta.
Let us know if this does not fix this issue for you as we're in touch with the Steam team about this since a relatively large number of users is affected.
@NRG_Mash
@RichardGambler
One is real-life nudity and the other is not, you are mixing these things up. And the content you showed before led to a permanent Steam Workshop ban of the users who uploaded it so clearly Steam is and has been enforcing this.
@ThatBuffaloMan
Try turning off the "high-priority" option in the Wallpaper Engine settings ("General" tab) for the automatic startup. Additionally, add a "Plugin load delay" at the bottom of the "Plugins" tab of the Wallpaper Engine settings.
@ultrabolado
@verge
The lock screen is a protected area for good reason, if a malicious app could easily change it, it would not be a problem to add a fake input field to steal your password, for example.
@bitandbang
We have a lot of users on Windows 11 already and have no widespread error reports. We also tested the app extensively on Windows 11 and found no major problems. Try doing a clean reinstallation of your graphics card drivers, if you cannot fix your issue, post on our Steam board.
@BlackburryTV
@TheRealMarie27
Set "Other applications fullscreen" to "Stop (free memory)" to completely unload Wallpaper Engine from RAM. It cannot be the cause of performance issues with that setting as it will effectively stop running when in-game.
@thehee420
Steam servers are getting hammered due to the global Coronavirus lockdowns. Check out our FAQ though on how you can sometimes it working again if it really does not start after waiting some time:
@arikirino
It should be fine but if you do have any issues, you can also set up an "application rule" so that Wallpaper Engine turns itself off ("Stop") if you launch a certain .exe:
@TheChrisGlass
@darkpctv
We think that the constant chasing after sales is bad for consumers because it forces you to wait until you buy something you like. That's why we just set a very low sales price and never go on sale.
@MrTonyBones
@Razer
You can do that, it's mainly Steam that's causing a fuss but you can just launch Wallpaper Engine independently from Steam to circumvent that. We also have a "hidden" way to disable Steam completely which you can do on your second PC:
