A detail of the landscape in the High Peak, filmed a month or so ago. You can watch lots more of these films that capture details & short journeys through the landscape here https://t.co/HZP1dO7SHO

I don’t do an autumn tidy up, I leave herbaceous plants and dead leaves until spring. They provide vital shelter for invertebrates and other wildlife. #wildlifegarden #natureneedsahome
Autumnal leaves under hedges or at the back of borders make fantastic places for wildlife to hibernate. They also attract birds looking for worms and sheltering beetles. When left, these leaves will break down, creating a natural leaf mulch, perfect for your garden soil.

I can’t decide whether the fireworks tonight are a belated celebration from the 5th or they are for the US election results. I live in a small rural town in Suffolk, in the UK.

Whatever else is going on, there is apricity in abundance today (the sense-hugging warmth of the sun on a winter’s day).

No words right now. We’ll open on Monday after I’m done with the school run about 8.30am and we’ll close on Wednesday evening!! No point having opening hours! Hopefully see some of you in our lovely shop. I’m really proud of it!

Word of the day is ‘pinchfart’ (16th century): a miser; one who withholds money to the detriment of others.

From an evening walk through New Mills just now. Autumn leaves glowing in the streetlight, the spire of St George’s Church beyond. #NewMills #Photography

Today a primary school headteacher in my constituency shared the letter she’d sent to her MP about Free School Meals. It’s really powerful so I’m sharing an anonymised version with her permission. Heartbreaking and inspiring. Keep going @MarcusRashford, this matters.
