I spent yesterday with a fantastic group of young people, who were grappling with the challenges of global climate negotiations through a Mock COP activity. Their enthusiam and passion was so inspiring!. Thanks @BCouncil_Wales and @WCIA_Wales for inviting me!. #COP29.

At the Senedd today at a World Climate Simulation ‘mock COP’ event for local school students, ahead of #COP28. There were keynotes from @BCouncil_Wales & @WCIA_Wales, and a short talk on the science of climate change, before getting stuck into the negotiations!.@CU_EARTH.

Heavy #rainfall over #Kenya has led to #flooding across the region. Rainfall anomalies from CHIRPS show more than double (200%) the average rainfall has been experienced in some parts of the Horn of Africa between 11th October and 10th November. @FEWSNET

In April, when I was sorting out the timetabling for my atmosphere lectures this term I wasn't expecting such an interesting case study to turn up on the same day as my lecture on mid-latitude cyclones!.@CU_EARTH.
