Regional climate centres (RCC) across Africa are vital communicators of hydrometeorological early warnings. In our latest climate services study, we show the current status of services provided by the Central African RCC. 🌍🌧️.@african_swift @UKCEHPapers.

(5) Finally, as climate and malaria modelling communities make huge advances through increased computational resource and AI, we must not forget to use both community efforts to ensure the best predictions are used to support policy planning and health decision-making.

(4) Hence, when we compare the effect of climate change on malaria we get different results when using parameterised or explicit convection. For model with high sensitivity to temp, temperature changes increase malaria over highlands. Meanwhile in VECTRI, rainfall changes is key;

(3) explicitly-representing convection has a greater impact on malaria models with a large rainfall sensitivity. Malaria models with controlled temperature thresholds for certain processes are sensitive to temperature changes due to changes in cloud-radiation interactions.

Not my typical research field, so been a huge learning curve!. Lessons I've learnt: (1) Significant spread between different malaria models; (2) predicted malaria has a strong sensitivity to either temperature or precipitation depending on the chosen malaria model;.

Not one, not two, but five(!) @HydroJules internships available this summer. Whilst every project is great, I'm slightly biased towards mine, @DrEJ_astrogeo and Conni Klein's project on predicting sub-seasonal variability of Indian storms. Any questions, just ask! @UK_CEH.
