Nearly at the end of our first day in
#Cincinnati
. To say it's been memorable would be a major understatement - see earlier tweets for some highlights.
My son & I have been bowled over by how welcoming - lovely everyone has been. It means so much to us.
Cincy, you're the best.
Was a little sad leaving
#Cincinnati
this morning. But not too sad because I've made magic memories, connected with so many people, and I know I'll be back. Thank you to everyone who made the last 6 days so special for my son and me.
Waking up early and excited like being a kid on Christmas morning. After 40 years it's nearly time to see the
#Bengals
in
#Cincinnati
for the first time and to experience my first tailgate.
#WhoDey
Let's ****ING go!
After 40 years of supporting the
#Bengals
, I'll finally get to Cincinnati & see them play at home (not counting the "home" game in London 😉) for the first time. My son and I are going to have an amazing time.
#WhoDey
Thanks to Paul at
@WhoDey_UK
for his help.
I hope y'all* who've started following me during my trip to Cincinnati aren't expecting me to maintain this level of excitement and amazing experiences every day 😂
*poor attempt at using local lingo 😉😂
For those of you wondering why a British has been supporting the
#Bengals
for the past 40 years and so why I'm in
#Cincinnati
at the moment, it's here in a blog post I wrote a couple of years ago:
My son started supporting about 10 years ago.
Off to the
@CincinnatiReds
game at St. Louis today. Will be cheering on the Reds and hoping that I can emulate my son's success last week by getting a Home Run ball (a practice one would be fine too 😉😂).
#CincinnatiReds
A disappointing result, but was great to see the game, and experience the atmosphere.
I guess we'll just have to scream even louder next week in Kansas City.

#Bengals
Another unexpected experience... importantly, the correct answer came with a Skyline gift card. Looks like tomorrow will be the hat trick of Skyline meals (had Coneys today).

If University of Cincinnati is looking for a Professor in Japanese Studies or something else I can lecture on - see my website for more about my work and books (including novels!), I'm open to offers for September 2025 onwards.

Twitter hasn't liked me trying to follow all you wonderful people of
#Cincinnati
who've started following me over the last 5 days. It's blocked me from following any more (for now). Hopefully I'll be able to follow the rest of you soon.
I've so many new followers. This is not a boast, it's merely a statement. I will try to sit down and follow you all back, but my Twitter account has gone crazy today, and I'd rather focus on reading the amazing comments and seeing the city, and leave other techy things to later.
After leaving Cincinnati, we headed north to the Hall of Fame museum. Really interesting and well put together. 3 hours flew by. Hopefully, in the future, there'll be more
#Bengals
representation there.
Every day I do a sketch. I often do something from memory related to what I've done that day. I post these to my Instagram story, but will share here today also as I did my view at Paycor. I would have liked to included some of the tailgate, but I'm not good at drawing people 😂
When you're the only one wearing yellow (apart from a few security types) in the stadium it does make it easier for people to spot you! 😂

#CincinnatiReds
Story of the first half:
65,000
#Bengals
fans turned up.
53 players and the coaches, not so much.
Referees acting as though Brady and Bill Belichick are still on the Patriots, trying to ruin the game.
Got to do much better in the second half. Summer break is over.
#WhoDey
The problem with quickly going through following all the people who've started following me over the last few days (when Twitter lets me follow people) is that some accounts are... well... how do I put it?.. it leads to DMs asking for money and offering a variety of services😱😂
Watching these clips, I'm getting more excited about the Higgins pick than Burrow... Perhaps also because the Burrow pick was so predictable. Higgins is also a
#Bengals
fan.
#OneOfOurOwn
@JungleBookiePod
Loved it.
I've actually being trying to make Cincinnati Chili at home from a recipe I found online for several years. I was shocked at how close it was to what I've been making. My son said the same. The cheese is very different though 😂
Dear Google Maps, when trying to get from downtown
#Cincinnati
to the Purple Bridge, taking another bridge, to get across to Kentucky, and then ask me to swim back to the middle of the Purple Bridge, is not the correct way.

Just woken up in Tokyo to see the news that the
#Bengals
are coming back to London. Am so excited. By chance I'd already decided to put on this T-shirt today. Guess I'll be getting a new one soon.

Not many teams will do the double over

this season. Well done to Fulham. Look forward to us getting our revenge in the playoffs. 🔴⚪⚔🔴⚪

Walking mostly. Hiring a car from next Tuesday to do a roadtrip - going to the Hall of Fame Museum in Canton, then heading over to Kansas for the Week 2 game.
Still can't quite believe that in 2 weeks' time I'll be at Paycor to see the
#Bengals
play in Cincinnati for the first time in the 40 years I've been supporting them. And the following week I'll be at the game in Kansas.
#WhoDey
I'm really hoping that the
#Bengals
new safety intercepts Lamar Jackson next season for a game winning pick 6 so we can get the headline "Stone the crows" (
@WhoDey_UK
is that just a British phrase?)
Looking forward to seeing all of the fabulous
#Bengals
fans I met the last time they came over. Hopefully even more will come this time! Everyone had a great time... and the team wasn't even so good that year. This time we'll have a team on its way to the Super Bowl.
#WhoDey
After Sunday's performance by the
#Bengals
I get why some may avoid listening to anything to do with the team. I nearly didn't listen myself. But I did. And it was great. The perfect group therapy and ideal for my drive to Oxford.
#Bengals
for life, not just when we win.
#WhoDey
I've been supporting the Bengals since 1984. I've seen them in London twice, but have never been to Cincinnati. That's all about to change - just booked flights tickets for my son and myself. Just need to sort out the match tickets. Very exciting!
#WhoDey
A bit surreal. Two Brits in Tokyo talking all things
#Bengals
(we may have discussed a wide range of social problems also... but Bengals O-line and lack of respect to
@andydalton14
and Bengals generally by media and fans seemed more pressing). A great evening.

Earlier today I said I'd get a
#Bengals
shirt with
@Carlos_Dunlap
's on if he signed an extension. Wasn't expecting to need to go shopping so soon. Very happy though. Great
@GenoSacks
has also signed an extension.

Finally got to listen to the podcast properly.
It's further confirmation 3 things to me...
1. Sam Wyche was amazing
2. The Bengals UK is great
3.
@Son_Of_Ray
is a wonderful human being
🚨🐯 EPISODE 71 OF CINCINATTER 🐯🚨
