Observation: the people who sustain success over the long-haul are rarely shooting for success. They are focused on the path. Their goal is mastery, which knows no end. Be the best at getting better. Do the work and trust that it'll work out over the long haul.

Assisted Dying 🇨🇦: Same-day euthanasia. Delirium. Dementia. Caregiver burnout. Capacity concerns. A patient “vigorously roused” to consent. Another denied hospice care, but AD given the same day. Real cases. in @BMJSPCare https://t.co/lIUTBS4GnW

A study on elite Kenyan runners found that 76% of their diet was carbohydrate. 20% of their diet was pure sugar. We like to demonize and simplify diet into good/evil... Reality is much more complex and nuanced. If you're running a ton, carbs are your best friend.

Years ago I did a benefit appeal for a client with Downs Syndrome. He was so suggestible he agreed with the benefits assessor that he could successfully navigate across town. I got the same positive answer when I asked if he could fly an aeroplane

😭A TRAGEDY Every person with Down's syndrome would be eligible for assisted suicide under this Bill, according to Ken Ross, Founding Officer at the National Down Syndrome Policy Group. This Bill is a national tragedy in the making.

In a bill that relies on relentless euphemisms to be palatable, even the main pushers like Lord Falconer sometimes forget to euphemise. I did not train to be a poisoner.

☠️POISON - Honesty at last! Lord Falconer finally admits that his Bill mandates doctors giving “poison” to vulnerable patients. Not so dignified & peaceful after all, is it?!

The secret is there is no secret. Consistency over intensity. Progress over perfection. Fundamentals over fads. Over and over again.

Supporters of the Bill may be ‘furious’. Those of us with concerns about the Bill - in my case, concerns rooted in clinical experience - are grateful to the Lords for their close scrutiny. This quote from @FloEshalomi hits the nail on the head

EXC - Senior backers of the assisted dying bill now believe it will fall in the House of Lords. It's causing fury among MPs who backed it. Opponents say this is routine for private members bills and supporters should not have misled public on bill's chances.

There is no secret. Consistency over intensity. Small wins instead of chasing heroic efforts. Progress beats perfection. Solid work. Repeated for a long time. That's it.

Careful with AI. I asked Grok what the 3rd most common respiratory disease was and it said ILD (prevalence 50-60/100,000). It said bronchiectasis was "much rarer". I corrected it that bronchiectasis prevalence is up to 680/100,00 (10x more common) and it admits it was wrong)

Big news from Scotland: the first MSP to publicly switch from supporting to opposing the AS bill. “Nicoll said her 31 years in the police force had exposed her to the most vulnerable in society and convinced her some would be subjected to ‘pressure’ to die.”
