@BradWestPoCo What would you say to the @VSB39 for attempting to close a school in a transit zone where the province has legislated density and the federal government needs schools to help fulfill their mandates? https://t.co/8pkTHJcYia cc: @adriandix @DonDavies @Taleeb

I can't think of a better time to stop giving BC's private schools *hundreds of millions* of public funding a year, and redirect that to BC's cash-strapped public school districts. #bcpoli #bced

Solid win for the people 🏆 Now, go up a few levels to the Official Development Plan. Will it include planning for schools? Asking because the @VSB39 is in land disposition mode.
If two inspectors interpret the same permit differently, the system is broken for businesses, not-for-profits, and home builders. As mayor, I’ll implement: ✅one permitting playbook, ✅one-window support, ✅rapid appeals, and ✅fair enforcement. See this well-written op-ed

From the chair of the @VanDPAC — which represents parents of @VSB39 students — on their latest frustration with chair @victoriajungvan, who announced this week she's running for council with @kareemformayor. #vanpoli
Parents asked to be heard. Instead of meeting with them, Chair Jung rushed a motion calling for a statutory review of parents in under a week. This came despite DPAC having already passed a provincial resolution on parent engagement. Rather than working with parents to build on

A Trustee that votes to close a school in a transit zone where the province has legislated density has to have their reasons but they don't make sense as @VSB39 is only planning to capture 76 of 100 future kids. More here: https://t.co/UMdwczigA1

The transparency and democracy deficit at the @VSB39 👇
1.@victoriajungvan's record at the @VSB39 should alarm anyone who cares about good governance, transparency, or democratic engagement. It’s one of the most disappointing trustee tenures I’ve seen. /2

Once upon a time, politicians used to listen to @VaughnPalmer. What's changed #bcpoli? How can we have so much money and sow so much division with incorrect priorities?
New Democrats brand Darryl Jones the “grocery gouger.” Hoping no one remembers their 2024 election promise, one of most expensive ever made in BC. grocery rebate of $1,000 per household—all in cost $1.8 billion. After election they refuse to pay up. Now that’s gouging.

If we have 3D models, then it's time to make an #EntrepreneurCallOut! I got dibs on mapping out the schools! @LennyNanZhou knows what I mean!

🇨🇦: I keep hearing Realtors & mortgage brokers are cutting marketing expenses. That's mid-tier & new entrants. Top performers have actually been scaling up. Why? They understand recessions purge inefficient capital, and it's winner takes all on the other side.

+1 to this: “Restoring faith in public institutions requires doing fewer things and doing them well. It means building good systems and incentives, not layering on more process, micromanagement, and performative bureaucracy.”
People in Ontario and Toronto feel overtaxed because they are overtaxed. This is not Scandinavia. We pay a lot, and we are not getting commensurate value in return. That is what the public is telling us. Our institutions are not delivering outcomes that justify the level of

Canada should be a magnet for the world’s best founders. 🇨🇦 Instead, our startup visa process is slow and broken. We need to fix it - fast. https://t.co/8P8Lg1G7OT

A loophole in Canada's Start-Up Visa program created a path for fraud and abuse. “Consultants” brought in thousands of unqualified people to the country and pocketed millions of dollars.

Meanwhile, last month in a 5 to 3 vote the @VSB39 Trustees closed a school and removed 557 education spaces from the Joyce SkyTrain transit zone where the province has also legislated density. @CityofVancouver open a 🎟 as liability flows to City due to Vancouver Charter. #bced

✅ Vancouver’s libraries, sidewalks, parks, community centres, garbage collection, pools, and streets are neglected. ✅ We need more front line workers and less managers that manage other managers. https://t.co/K64Cc3yvqg

Huge appreciation for all who fought so hard for Carleton Elementary. Last night's historic @VSB39 decision was disappointing and shortchanges future generations in that community. Thinking of the incomparable Bobbi Senft today. @adriandix @DonDavies @melaniecheng123

Tonight, the VSB voted to close Carleton. Rather than focussing on that decision, I want to share what the words “Save Carleton” have come to mean to the people here. For generations, Carleton has been a place of learning, safety, belonging, and care in Joyce-Collingwood.

The Vancouver School Board is now deep into the most aggressive land-disposal cycle in its modern history. Most observers interpret closures and leases as isolated decisions.

See you there! #SaveCarleton
The VSB's final decision on the permanent closure of Carleton Elementary is on Wednesday, December 17th @ 5:00 pm, at the VSB Office, 1580 W. Broadway, Vancouver. Please try to come in person and wear red for Carleton. Whatever happens, this is not the end. Joyce-Collingwood
