why do I need to do a PhD in meteorology just to get dressed?. Weather apps = EU cookie banners for the sky.

weather is stuck at the data layer and there’s been little to no innovation done on the app layer . I’m solving for that . A tool that every human and business in the world uses needs a lot more love and taste not just numbers and graphs.

in the vibe coding era a lot of people are forget these truths. it’s hard to understand for vibe coding but when your app breaks and you have no idea why that’s when reality hits. take some time to understand and ChatGPT the details. you’ll learn and build better products.

"Fundamental" truths about software:. - Code is liability. - The more code you have, the more bugs you tend to have. - The more complex a system, the more important architecture becomes. - Writing maintainable code is a lot more effort than just getting it to work.

i've been using chatgpt as a rubber duck fitness accountability for about 3 weeks now. would not recommend it . even with memories turned on, it is mixing up days, workouts and info logged in each day. memory is not build for long standing chats.

5. @Reddit is a great forum to find early users and also build muscle to know who not to listen to. Use it a lot. A lot of my early feedback and growth came from there. It made my app go global with 1 post in a 300k sub.

4. Don't start with two environments straight away. Start with only prod & keep it simple. As the app grows, you will need two environments to keep iterating with disrupting existing users. @PawelHuryn's recent post covers good ways to do this.

3. @cursor_ai is excellent to make your backend really make it robust. It is better to do this down the line so you focus on getting users and validating your idea.

2. MVP should include look, feel, speed and quality - even it if not fully sanded down. Lovable can help you go a long way now, especially with Agents. @felixhhaas's most recent post is an excellent primer. Alternatives are Claude or @ChatGPTapp in that order.

got this exact feedback again from new user today. was chatting about something else and she said I just want to know what to wear and what to carry . avg 1-3 mins every day from when you are 16 till when you die - pretty big daily friction point.

more and more people find it weird that their weather app gives so much information but all they are looking for is ā€œshould I carry an umbrella or raincoat todayā€ . definitely not needed today

every prospective user: I have a weather app and I can look out the window, why do I need you? . every user: this is just what I need ā¤ļø no fluff and just the right amount of info . every non user: pls add an AI image detection so I can add my wardrobe and see what to wear.

the only place where you can find books about manufacturing or supply chain in any eu country book store or Indian book store is the academic section - those 1000+ page text books . great stories are seldom captured - some excellent stories are captured in @AcquiredFM.

The business section in American book stores is full of books about marketing and finance with no books about manufacturing or supply chain.
