In the off-season I speed train once per week (heavy gym workouts otherwise). In season I try and shoot for every 3-4 days
Aerobic detraining happens quicker than you think. In just 5-7 days without exposure to critical speed stimuli, Your body's blood lactate response to a given speed begins to rise. The result: performing the same level of effort becomes more physiologically demanding. And has

I wonder how NBC and PGA America/Ryder Cup Europe feel about broadcasting/running the event “for their country” (ie without pay) However you feel about players getting paid, it’s clear the big media machine appreciates their free labor, and the organizers like selling $100 polos

Golf courses should have “long drive records” similar to course records. And for long drive venues, that should be something that’s closely tracked and publicized for each competition

It continues to amaze me how important a square club face is. Gradually developed some bad habits with a weak face over the past season. Since then I have strengthened my face which cleaned up many other downstream mechanical errors, resulting in regaining 10-15 mph ball speed

We don’t have much shot tracking data at this point so it would be interesting to get shotlink data in the future to help answer some of these questions. Thanks for weighing in @LouStagner

Personally, I feel like this doesn’t make much of a difference — if a drive was in at 60 yards wide it seems like it would also have a high chance of being in at 40 yards wide (some interesting conditional probabilities to look at in long drive!)

We’re competing in Canada this weekend at a notoriously narrow grid. This year they have decided to widen the grid as follows. Psychologically it seems like this helps but what do the data say?

What would be the statistical impact of widening the grid? Intuitively it seems shots would be ~normally distributed w/ the average around the middle of the grid so you’re not materially increasing your chances of getting balls in play that much since edge shots are “tail events”

Was having an interesting discussion with @martinborgmeier about long drive shot dispersion and figured that stat GOAT @LouStagner was the man for these questions. What is the left/right shot dispersion pattern on a long drive grid?

Put two drivers in the bag for a scramble recently. Might be a permanent change for the regular golf bag—a 46” fairway finder and a 48” long drive setup Could imagine a 3rd for hitting a different shape depending on the course (same swing, different settings). DECADE approved?

Teeing off my Twitter journey with a swing video. My goal is to mix it up with the rest of the fellas in the ball speed wars #golf #longdrive #worldlongdrive
