Kenya’s fading craftsmanship, esp. among Kamba is a national loss. Masterpieces like this 1900s chain, crafted with basic tools like Kitati (pincers), prove our untapped potential. Imagine if we revived & commercialized these skills? We’d dominate the jewelry market.
Kenya🇰🇪's Akamba community manufactured wire from iron, copper & brass. Wire was drawn using a draw plate fitted with holes of various sizes. The wire was used in the Akamba's finest metalwork, chain making, for which they were well known and famed over the whole of East Africa.
