I asked this question to @paulg because I knew intuitively that recurring revenue mattered but always struggled to articulate why (other than for predictability purposes). PG did not disappoint.
An interesting point made by @paulg at @ycombinator earlier this week. Recurring revenue is valuable because it allows software companies to remain engineering-focused rather than be dominated by sales . Had never thought of it that way.
