As if the days aren't busy enough already, there's a shuttle waiting to take her down to Adumar, but the council's only just adjourned. At times like these, all Alax can do is pull @SilveredSnake out the door and hope they aren't too late. "Talk about a huge waste of time."

By some miracle Alex landed without twisting an ankle or getting kicked by a horse. The jail was unremarkable. This really was a little town out in nowhere. Hopefully the cells were better taken care of than the ride up. "I'm going to miss our enlightening conversations."
Unfortunately for Korela, Alex had her mostly figured out, which was only bound to become more of a liability in the future. At the very least, she can understand sarcasm. "If you'd told me, I would've taken the long route back." She dismounts, hitching her horse securely to... +

...were a terrible pain that turned her stomach, but an admittance like that would just encourage Korela. There was no good in honesty here.

As much as she twisted and turned the tie didn't come loose. It was doubtful that this would be her only chance to try; Alex was sure she'd become acquantined with Korela and her rope tying skills. "Pity. I was starting to enjoy the ride." Truthfully, the bumps in the road...
"Glad I imparted *something* upon you." Her voice is dry, but the thought that Alex will be thinking about her is... temporarily intriguing. Surely, it was just a fleeting fancy. Instead, she focuses once more on the road ahead of them, now that there's not much left before... +

Life was occasionally coy. Before they arrived Alex gave the binds a valiant effort. Definitely not enough time to get a good sense of the knot, but a picture was forming in her mind. It was just a matter of trial and error.

"Oh, don't sell yourself short. I'll never forget your one-liners." By her estimation they weren't far from town and therefore close to the jail. What a shame. Alex doubted she'd find any particularly enlightening company in drunkards, but she wouldn't rule out the possibility.
With luck, Korela's opportunity would come before then; though, considering the circumstances (that is, her being a woman of a somewhat darker color in a small isolated town), it's going to have to be a *lot* of luck. Ambition is not hampered by petty little things like... +

The story was the same for outlaws, so maybe they could understand each other. Alex certainly wasn't living to 30. "You'll miss me when I'm gone, deputy."

It was an annoying habit but one Korela was bound to kick in a few years when her ambition proved fruitless. That happened with every aspiring lawmen. Eventually, the times beat you down, or if they didn't the gunfights did. It only took one bad day to end up in a box.
Korela may only be a deputy in a small, uneventful town, but she was cursed with boundless ambition, and you didn’t get chances to elevate your station by playing it safe or by underestimating your opposition. No, every day and every job was an opportunity to prove herself… +

...refreshing change over the lawmen who oozed with contempt and had nothing to show for. That would only stop her in the moment. Rest assured she'd find a way out eventually. "You won't need me anymore, anyhow."

"Who said anything about rooting? I hope when the time comes I'll be far, far from here." Color her surprise that the knot was fairly complicated. Maybe it shouldn't be surprising considering who Korela was. She had an ego, but she tried very hard to back it up. That was a...
It was the tragedy of the world that, every once in a while, a good person was born into bad fortune. Korela wasn't kind enough to think that was the case with Alex, though; no, she tended towards the cynical, so if she had to guess, she'd have some much less charitable... +

...her every step of the way. It couldn’t be helped. She was too deep to climb out anymore. "Really, this is a bit dramatic for small-time crime. I'd love to see you with a real criminal on your hands."

"The law should quit making problems with me." It should surprise no one that Alex ended up where she was; if they stopped long enough to see her then they might understand. The whole thing was a setup. From the moment she was born she was doomed and those ill-wishes followed...
It wasn't very common in this town; most of the issues that required Korela's attention were rowdy drunks, and it was easy to march them from the bar to the jail since it was a short walk. Very rarely did someone have to be loaded onto her horse for transport, but Alex... +

...could escape it. There were a few obvious ones and many more less obvious off-shoots and inventions. She took her time. Without her eyes to guide her it was all down to senses, scale, and imagination. "Being slammed like that will really take your breath away."
