We have updated nearly 4,000 WWII Online Cenotaph records to include their JayForce service. This consists of those who served in Italy and the Middle East. I wonder how they felt thinking their war service was over then being diverted to Japan.

I corresponded with Thomas' brother last week. His whÄnau are still grieving his loss.
Today is Merchant Navy Day. Of those who didnât wear uniform of the Navy, Army or Air Force and served in the MN, 15 NZ teenagers are known to have lost their lives including Thomas Burke and Edward Walls, two 15-year-old deckhands who were both from Lower Hutt. Lest we forget.
