I make videos about cities at @aboutherevideos and for @CBC sometimes.

Granville Island is facing big challenges, but working on this story also made me appreciate how special this place is. It's rare to have a large piece of publicly-held land in the heart of a city, dedicated entirely to serving the public good. I hope we find a way to sustain it.

It was a HUGE honour to be on the show! I reference the Missing Middle initiative's work all over my videos so I felt a bit sheepish trying to explain development fees to the folks who basically wrote the book (blog?) on this issue.
Canadian creator and urban planner @uytaelee turns dry housing topics into YouTube gold! On this week's Missing Middle, @MikePMoffatt and I get his top content tips & talk about why family homes are vanishing. Check it out here: https://t.co/LUXKWxTNwa

Very proud and a bit nervous to share About Here’s latest video. This script took months of research and a bit of me losing my mind but I think it ultimately tells a profound story about our housing crisis today.
NEW VIDEO: The Housing Tax Crisis Taxes on new housing (often called development “fees” and “charges”) can now make up over 20% of the cost of a new home. Why do we have these taxes and why are they growing so quickly? https://t.co/MaPLzBnIgZ

Public hearings are often seen as a cornerstone of democracy, giving residents a voice in decisions that impact housing, urban planning, and much much more. But just how well does this process truly...

Are public hearings a cornerstone of democracy or mostly theatre? We try our best to unpack this messy tradition in @aboutherevideos latest video.

Need your help coming up with a title for a video on public hearings. Which do you prefer? A - Should we abolish this democratic tradition? B - How your neighbours stop housing (and other projects) C - Are public hearings wasting everyone’s time?

Just wanted to clarify, I charged that amount for a different, long-form video that I spent 2.5 months working on last year. This most recent video for the city is much shorter and I charged about a third of that amount.
Uytae Lee invoiced Vancouver taxpayers $12,600 for a video about the Vancouver Plan. He is an NDP-appointee to the BC Housing board. #bcpoli

And having my little video mentioned in the announcement is crazy!!! 😱😱😱
This change will allow for housing that fits better in our communities. 🏡 To ensure the continuing safety of residents, all new SES builds will require specific safety measures: ✅ Sprinklers ✅ Wider Stairwells ✅ Smoke Management Systems https://t.co/6sKEsXtyat 🧵[2/4]

And just like that, BC becomes the first province to allow single staircase apartments (up to 6 stories) in Canada! 🎉🎉🎉
Today, I updated the BC Building Code to allow for Single Egress Stair (SES) designs in low- and mid-rise buildings. By allowing SES, we will boost our housing supply and create more options for families who need larger layouts and designs. 👉🏾 https://t.co/E8UwCEuwZZ 🧵[1/4]
