India was so poor in 1947 that an estimated 70% of UCs were illiterate. Not uneducated. Illiterate. Their life expectancy at birth was 35 years. The average UC dude was a literal peasant when the Republic was born.
Most UCs can trace their previous 10 generations who were educated but Most SCSTs are first and 2nd gen educated. If it's more than 2nd gen, most of them are converts who were educated by church resources. We talk about hindu unity, and hindu Rashtra but dont acknowledge this.

@RupakChatto This is true of almost all crops. For rice (country's biggest crop) India's yield is 4.32 tonne/ha while China is 7.14, Vietnam 6.11. Even Bangladesh is around 16% more productive (5.03). On Ag, however, yield by itself is not a strong enough factor for policy makers. Otherwise

Ironically tho Mindanao is top fruit and raw materials exporter but also the most food insecure (18 provinces I think but correct me) our whole island could've addressed food insecurity experienced in majority of provinces in Philippines but puro kami plantasyon at minahan.
