Rural Americans have nothing but contempt for cities and city dwellers. They constantly spread lies that cities are unsafe, they preen about being "the real America" and they expect us to bend over backwards to keep their communities the way they were 70 years ago.
I think this has been a useful exercise if for no other reason than that it has revealed the deep contempt neoliberals have for anyone who is deeply rooted in their community and whose dreams do not fit their vision of corporate efficiency and growth at all costs.
