Rule #11: Use multisig for big balances. One key means one single point of failure. Lose it? Game over. Multisig adds redundancy and protection, so no scammer (or accident) can wipe you out. If you care about preserving wealth, this is non-negotiable.

Rule #10: Keep quiet about your setup. Advocate for bitcoin, but don’t flex your balance. Or reveal your security details. Oversharing paints a target on your back. Less said equals more safety.

Rule #9: Don’t hand strangers your trust. AI bots. Deepfakes. Fake communities. Scams today feel real by design. That’s the trick. Forget blind trust. Trust wisely.

Rule #8: Be skeptical of unexpected contact. Scammers will call, text, or email “urgent warnings.”. Ignore. And never click their link. Instead, contact the company yourself via official channels. If you didn’t initiate it, treat it like poison.

Rule #7: Be wary when seeking help. Desperation is a scammer’s favorite weapon. Fake sites. Fake “support.” Fake “rescue experts.”. Pause. Verify. Then proceed. The calmer you are, the harder you are to con.

Rule #6: Slow down. Every time you send bitcoin. If you rush, you risk. Verify address. Verify amount. Verify again. Address mistakes and malware happen, but they’re rare. The extra 15 seconds could save your stack.

Rule #5: Don’t use keys someone else created. Some scammers convince you: “Your bitcoin isn’t safe. Move it here.”. Translation? They now control your coins. If the seed didn’t come from your hardware wallet, don’t trust it.

Rule #4: Buy hardware wallets correctly. A hardware wallet is your best friend. Think trusted devices like @Ledger @Trezor or @COLDCARDwallet to name a few. Warning: Scammers sell “pre-owned” or tampered wallets. Not direct from the manufacturer? You’re gambling your stack.

Rule #3: Never expose your seed phrase to a phone or computer. Not in notes. Not typed, printed, then deleted. Not in “encrypted” storage. If it touches an online device, your keys are at risk. Keep it offline. Always.

Rule #2: Never share your seed phrase. If someone asks for it, they’re scamming you. Period. No company. No support rep. No "expert" needs this. Guard it like your life depends on it, because your freedom does.

Rule #1: Get your bitcoin off exchanges. If your coins are on an exchange, your account is a soft target. Personal exchange accounts get hacked way more than self-custody wallets. Want true security? . Take control of your keys.

1-of-N and N-of-N are problematic because they can lead to a single point of failure, but many options lie between these extremes. Multisig is a great way to achieve "threshold security," and it exclusively enables collaborative custody. Learn more:
