everyone has ideas. whether it’s making launch videos, spinning up a @ProductHunt campaign, running paid acquisition, partnering with creators, or engineering a moment meant to go viral (which almost never works). these suggestions come quickly - fluid, familiar, and seemingly

hiring a designer is a lot like hiring for growth. in both cases, people just want to make a real impact on the product. and impact doesn’t mean tweaking a button’s corner radius.
Even the biggest companies with the deepest pockets are struggling to hire top design talent. And as usual, it comes down to a fundamental misunderstanding of what drives most great designers. They want to be surrounded by other great designers and a culture that cares.

AI app-layer valuations are foggy because everyone wants to show 'software multiples' on what is essentially commodity reselling.
Payments companies don't call total payment volume ARR. Marketplaces don't call GMV ARR. Electricity retailers don't call kilowatt‑hours ARR. AI apps built on paid models should not call pass‑through token spend ARR. via @nickbaumann_

i disagree. AI dating isn’t blowing up. it’s peaking on novelty, not real usage. most of these apps spark some buzz, but actual adoption is nowhere, and many struggle to even get attention. there’s also zero originality. everyone follows the same idea: ask the user a few.
Update: AI matchmaking is blowing up this summer ❤️🔥. I'm seeing so much content about new apps that use AI to find your perfect match - like Known, Sitch, Ditto. They often use AI phone agents to get detailed info on users - and some claim to run simulations on first convos 👀

I subscribe to a ton of newsletters and I do mean to read them (but usually don't). In the last week I've used the newsletter feature quite a bit - and now I've caught up on Lenny's, my 1000 news related subscriptions, a bunch of product related ones, and some fashion ones.

if i were a VC, i’d invest in an in-house content team with a proper studio. it’s one of the most powerful levers they can offer startups today. startups are full of stories worth telling, and the most effective comms strategy is to go direct (cc: @lulumeservey). people

many growth folks are praising @ElenaVerna’s piece about automating growth 101. they should. it’s timely and forward-thinking. but here’s the part nobody’s saying: growth isn’t hard because the basics are hard. growth is hard because most growth leaders have zero actual power.
