I realize I have the same experience with new Pere Ubu records I used to have with new Fall records: they come out, I listen, I think "this is ok" I forgot abt it for 3 months, listen again and think "this is the best music made by anyone ever"

@AHMcKay I saw Pere Ubu donkeys years ago (ICA I think) and David had finger cymbals on one hand & one of those children’s toys that make “Moo” sounds in the other. After the song he said to the audience “it’s tough being a multi instrumentalist” 😀

A friend asked me to do a primer on @ubuprojex, and I was really stumped. Despite them being one of my favourite bands, I reflected on little I knew about their music, because there is such a lot to know. I had a go with this. But what have I missed?

I think the definitive "statement" of the Pere Ubu show was the band interpreting Worried Man Blues *and* Kick Out the Jams as if they were from the same Great American Songbook, which, of course, they are. There are likely better American bands, but no better American Band!
