Following a number of complaints from the public about the video of two nurses from Bankstown Hospital, eSafety has assessed the material. We found it does not meet any threshold for removal under the Online Safety Act and therefore we have not sought removal of the material.

I had very fruitful discussions today with e-Safety Commissioner Julie Inman-Grant on: •Child safety by design •The need for detection of child sexual abuse material •Obligations for companies, voluntary action is clearly not enough.

It was a pleasure to welcome @European Union Commissioner @YlvaJohansson to Australia to continue our continued commitment against online child sexual exploitation and terrorist content. Our collaboration began at the #EUInternetForum in 2021 & both champion #safetybydesign!

Major tech paradigm shifts take hold very rapidly. 1 year ago, we learned how significant the integration of #generativeAI was to be in search, revolutionising the ways human sought out, created & consume content. We appreciate industry coming to the table for safer search codes!

Today marks the commencement of a new industry code requiring search engines to take critical steps in preventing child sexual abuse material from appearing in search results and address the risks that their AI technology is exploited to create deep fakes of this harmful content.

Image-based abuse can be many different things. For example, someone may share (or threaten to share) intimate photos or videos of a person without their permission. This is against the law.  Learn more on the eSafety Commissioner website: https://t.co/e81enLZpxg #1800RESPECT
